District 19 Area 11 Minutes Monthly GSR Meeting June 24, 2025
- Welcome (DCM): The meeting began at 7, opened by Steve.
- General Service Representative Pre-Amble (ALL):
- Serenity Prayer (ALL):
- Concept VI: Steve shared regarding the Area Assembly this past Saturday. In the US we rely on the Concepts. Other countries do not use the Concepts as we do so the 12 and 12 was not updated until there is a vote on this.
- Tradition VI: AA does not endorse any causes but we do put AA out there to reach out to people who need help. Geoff: many years ago someone was trying to open a chain of AA recovery centers without AA endorsement and it was shut down due to this Tradition.
- General Service Representative Introductions / Reports & Concerns (GSRs):
Will: Wednesday Big Book Meeting, no updates or concerns
Laurie: Alternate GSR for the Noon Congregational church meeting: new meeting on the green, flyer passed around.
Dave B: EMR GSR: August 17th EMR picnic at Jacob’s Beach. Sign up sheet passed around.
Gene: Friday Big Book Study: How do we get books? Not fully up and running but when it is, they will get them out to us. They are waiting for the shelves to go up.

- Review & Approval of Meeting Minutes (D19 Secretary)
- Current Month being Reviewed for Approval: May 2025
Steve made a motion to accept, Sharon asked for GSR names and meetings to be added to minutes. Names are already in the GSR section, the meeting they represent will be added in. Dave seconded the motion to accept, unanimous vote to accept the May 2025 minutes.
- Old Business (DCM/ALL):
- Voting Items
District 19 Surplus Funds: Reviewed proposals to spend the surplus. Let Dawn present the schedule books before we vote to spend the money. Another option is to donate up, there is a shortfall in the Area donations. The Answering Service is receiving support from the Area. Take this back to your groups for discussion, i.e. how to spend the surplus. . Frank: We are spending less on the Answering Service but we are doing it with the state and the cost seems higher. The groups need to give more to the area, less to the district. Everyone wants the white schedule book. Sharon wants mistakes corrected before we give any money. The Area will not be publishing the books because it is too expensive to keep up with changes and keep the book accurate. Dawn is not here tonight and we need to have her present before we move forward with this. We may need to print just a district meeting book.
Funding books or Donating Up or 30% to GSO or schedules are the top three suggestions for spending the surplus.
Establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee for the District 19 Guidelines:
The guidelines we have in place are good but need to be refined. Steve made a motion to vote to establish an Ad Hoc Committee, Dave seconded. Steve presented the need to establish guidelines. Sharon: we need to have a committee. There should be a process for the committee. Diane: I don’t think it’s a bad idea. 50% of our service committees are vacant so where do we get volunteers when we already have so many vacancies. Steve: have the groups vote on adopting the guidelines, maybe they will see how many vacancies there are.
Steve made a motion to vote, Dave seconded. Unanimously adopted. Steve volunteered to chair it. Sharon asked if we could highlight what each group’s concerns were. Please ask your groups for volunteers.
Establishment of a District 19 Inter – Meeting Speaker Group Tabled until next month. The person who presented the idea is not here tonight. Dave: every meeting would have multiple speakers? If the group is interested. It is up to the individual groups. Frank and Dave said the speaker seeker position is challenging just to get one person, having multiple people may be challenging.
- Discussion Items:
District 19 Registrar Position: Still no one volunteering for this. Jean, the registrar for the Area and she said DCM’s are doing this so Steve will take this over.
- New Business (DCM/ALL)
- Items For Discussion:
District 19 Open Sub Committee Positions: Points of interest are how to fill those positions with people other than current GSR/AGSRs. Please share open positions with your groups.
Invitation extensions to all District AA Treasurers as possible Voting Members of District 19. Steve presented why AA treasurers should be voting members. Maureen: hard to get people to serve as a treasurer, attending another meeting might be difficult. Frank: yes, let’s invite them, not pressure them, just invite them. Dave: where are the responsibilities listed? On the AA website.
2026 Budgetary Event Planning Ad Hoc Committee: forward thinking regarding a group to assist with planning to assist with budgeting for larger events.
Volunteer to present Tradition and Concept VII for the July GSR Meeting. Karen volunteered.
