District 19 DCM Meeting
- Welcome: Steve opened the meeting at 7:00pm
- General Service Representative Preamble
- Serenity Prayer
- Steve asked for a volunteer for the meeting next month to read the tradition and another volunteer to read the concept and share on each.
- Review and Approval of Meeting Minutes
- Current month being reviewed for approval: March, 2025. Jeff made a motion to accept the minutes, it was seconded and unanimously approved.
- Old Business:
- Voting items
i.District 19 operational budget. Jeff asked for a line item of $100 for the answering service, it was added. The budget was reviewed, no concerns were raised. Diane made a motion to accept, Dave seconded and it passed unanimously
ii.District 19 vote on Area 11 literature committee motions. The motions were reviewed. The literature will be stored at Area 11 headquarters. This is to expedite receiving literature for the groups. GSO loses money on single book purchases, this will be alleviated as literature will be purchased in bulk. EMR and Light and LIvely sell books regularly but other groups do not. Steve made a motion, Jeff seconded, unanimously approved..
- Discussion Items:
- budget surplus: Stock literature for meetings and community literature? Donate to GSO? Area? Central CT Intergroup? This group is about to start publishing the statewide meeting list. Ask your groups what they might want or need..
- Service day: Sharon suggested having a representative to meet with other districts. Steve suggested an ad hoc committee to set this up. Sharon is volunteering to run the committee. Steve has contacted D 21 three times and they have not responded. Go back to your meetings and ask for volunteers. Service day is to bring information regarding all the different committees and how AA serves the sick and suffering and is designed to get volunteers for the different committees in our district as we have several positions open.
- New Business:
- D19 Guidelines review and formation of ad hoc committee. The information is outdated and needs to be updated. Volunteers are needed for this committee.
- D 19 Registrar position open. GSR positions are 2 year commitment and the Area will remind people their commitment is over. We need a Registrar. We are technically short an officer.
- GSR introductions and concerns
No concerns were reported
- Committee Reports:
Answering service: 1 call, someone looking for a meeting. Male volunteers are needed at this time.
CPC: Dave may need to pass this commitment as the meetings occur during his work hours.
PI: Located some young speakers through CSCYPAA. 203-996-9563, please call Diane if you are putting literature up so she doesn’t go somewhere needlessly. Literature was placed at Blackstone and BPD but Diane wasn’t notified.
Schedules: passed out a flyer with a sign ups section for numbers and scan section to locate meetings.
Officer Reports:
Dave presented the treasurer report. He has been sending out thank you notes for donations. Expenses were a little higher because of the timing of checks clearing in the bank statement. There is more money coming in than going out.
Karen, nothing to report.
Sharon: attended pre-conference and took literature which she shared. Discussed simple majority in AA.
Steve: Three trustees have resigned. Mike is our area delegate and is discerning what and how much to share regarding this.
There is a bill, SB 410, being presented in CT to use state funds to pay ASL interpreters in NA and AA meetings. The area would prefer they use the term recovery and not AA. The person presenting the information to the Area meeting is deaf and can only attend 2 meetings per week as there are only 2 meetings with an interpreter. Money will be given to DMHAS and an interpreter can be requested by an individual to attend meetings. The bill has not been voted on yet but will be discussed.
State treasurer’s report was reviewed: $4,041 donations. Total budget $17,3184. $32899 has been spent including area delegate $10,500 for the GSR conference in NY.
Soberfest: $20 plus camping site fees, flyers are on the table, registration has started.
Pre-conference assembly: no meeting minutes yet. Birthday envelopes were passed out. Steve bought the Plain Language Big Book. It is $15 on the website. He bought the Service Manual 2025-2026 it is also available on the GSO website.
Sick and Deceased:
Anthony died 3 weeks ago. He was Patty’s husband.
Mike Irwin passed away last week.
Carol Ann’s son died
Gratitude breakfast: There is a funeral at the same time. Do not park in the area around the church.
We are officially the 4th Tuesday of the month, it has been changed with the Area registrar.
Responsibility Statement
Diane made a motion to close, Jeff seconded.
